My Passport Ultra and Kingston DT4000 Memory Stick

I have a Kingston DT4000 8GB memory stick which I have been using for over a year now however I have just purchased an external hard drive (My passport ultra 1TB from Western Digital) to back up the GIS data that are too large for the memory stick (these are the two media types allowed by our companies policies). I have just installed the external hard drive and now my computer is not recognising the memory stick. My laptop is shows a “Removable Disk G” but does not show the DT4000 icon or the name of the memory stick. When I double click the “Removable Disk G” to try and open it says that I need to insert disk into the Removable Disk G. 

I have checked the memory stick on my personal laptop (which is a mac) and it still works ok on that laptop and has all of the documents etc. on it. 

Have you come across this before please? Can you advise what I need to do to be able to use both the memory stick and external hard drive on the same laptop please?

it’s possible your Laptop may not be able to supply enough power to allow both units to work at once. Do you experience the same issue when connecting your devices into a Desktop computer in order to confirm?

Hi, thank you for replying but I don’t have access to a desktop computer,only laptops but I have tried restarting the laptop and it still won’t recognise the Kingston usb memory stick on its own I.e. Without the hard drive connected.
