My Passport Ultra (1TB) causing Windows explorer to barely load?

I’ve been using a 1TB My Passport Ultra on a Lenovo laptop running Windows 10 for months with no problem. I use the Passport as a live music archive. There are 697G free.

Over the last week or so, when viewing the drive in Windows explorer, the drive takes forever to load. When attempting to unzip a file from the drive, it stalls completely and has just been an absolute nightmare. The drive is stationary and hasn’t been dropped, etc.

I’m at a loss. Without the drive attached to the laptop, windows explorer performs normally. Any help would be appreciated.

I’d recommend replacing your hard drive’s USB cable and running a health test. If the unit fails the test then it should be replaced.
