My external HD not work anymore

Dear
I’m having problems with my external HD My Book Essential 3TB.
I bought this HD some years ago and I have been using as a backup working pretty well.
However last time that I tried connect the system is showing message that no writable partition found.
Please, could you help to solve this issue and access my files?

That error message is usually displayed in WD SmartWare when it is unable to detect a compatible hard drive. Are you able to access your WD My Book directly through Windows Explorer? Is it displayed in the Computer section? Is it displayed in Disk Management?

Thanks to answer me.
When I tried to access directly by explore he system show that not found drive.
However, the My Book turn on the lights and produce some sons looking works…

Dear

I encountered the same problem, suddenly and without warning. All my files are on My Book. Now I plug into USB3.0, and see nothing under Windows Explore (It is used to be seen as F: or G:). The WD Smartware Pro shows “No writable partition found”.

What is the situation? Does it mean My Book is completely dead? is there a remedy? Do I have to mail it to WD headquarter to get it fixed?

Actually I own two My Book. Another one is still good.

I am crying for help here.

Hi Alexandre_Porto,

There may be chances that your hard drive is converted into raw and because of this it is not recognized by the system. I would like to suggest you to check your hard drive status in disk management system. In the recommended system, you will be able to check the status, whether the drive is in the raw state. If this doesn’t help you, then use check disk command(CHKDSK) to know the issue with the hard drive.

Good luck!!
