Considering your system runs Mac OS 10.5, then perhaps it would be best to confirm the type of processor your computer has, either IBM PPC or Intel Core. This is important because drive performance can be affected by the type of partitioning applied based on your processor type.
If your Mac uses an IBM PPC processor, then Apple Partition Map should be the partitioning option to select. On the other hand, if your Mac uses an Intel processor, then the option to select while partitioning is GUID Partition Table.
