My Book Thunderbolt DUO Amber light problem

Hi everyone, just my first post here. Some days ago when i was travelling in USA i bought a 4.0TB My Book Thunderbolt DUO for my late 2016 macmini. I cannot use it yet because it has some problems.

The first time i want to use it i connect via thunderbolt cable (the inluded one) and powered up. The HDD starts normally with a white light at front, but 10-15 sec later the white light turns amber and the internal fan accelerates more, unlinking the HDD from my mac, i cannot access when the amber light is on.

I tried replacing the thunderbolt cable and connector but no success.

Anyone had the same problem? I researched quite a lot on googl but no success.

Hello,

According to user’s manual page #4 a steady amber light means there is a fan failure or over-/under-temperature condition.

I recommend you contact WD support for assistance with this.
