My Book Studio - yellow icon and not in Time Machine

I have been using My Book Studio for a few years to back up my Mac. Yesterday the icon disappeared. I reinstalled it, but it is yellow and when I try to connect it to Time Machine, it does not appear in Select Backup Disk (it is empty).

Can anyone help?

Hello,

Check is the drive is showing under disk utilities. Also, if possible, try testing the drive on different system just in case.

The drive is showing under disk utilities, as a yellow/orange icon. I am attaching a screen photo.

I am not sure what you mean by ‘try testing the drive on a different system’.

When I open up Time Machine, I see ‘You haven’t selected a location for Time Machine backups’. I am wondering, if I select ‘Use Previous Disk’, will this remove my history of backups up until now? I have only ever had one external HD, which is the one connected now.
