My Book on Mac changes to read only unless I reboot

I have an 8TB My Book which is I use for backups on my Mac. It’s formatted OSX Extended and works great for a few days after a computer reboot. For whatever reason, it then turns into a read-only drive and is unable to write my backups unless I reboot again. I got an error about it being in use but nothing is able to write to it.

This is the only My Book I’ve ever had this problem with (I have 3). I’m not sure if there is something configured incorrectly? I have done it the same as the 2 others that work just fine. I’m including some screenshots if there’s something that I’m missing.

Again, once I reboot my computer (or unplug the drive and plug it back in) it works just fine.

Thanks for any help.

Try to disable your unit’s sleep timer using WD Drive Utilities. Be default it’s set to 30 minutes.

Thank you! I turned it off and will report back if it doesn’t work.

I wanted to reply that I think this worked. I installed the Drive Utilities software after posting this message. I had the issue come up again once, but it seemed to resolve itself, and it hasn’t happened again as far as I’m aware.

Thank you for the help!
