I’ve got a problem with my 2TB external WD hard drive. I am able to copy data from it at the usual USB 2 speed but when I try to write data to the hard drive, it either writes at a ridiculously slow speed doesn’t appear to write to it at all.

I’ve tried using another USB port as well as using another known working laptop. The drive is about 5-6 months old which should still be under warrantee. Before sending it in, is there anything I could try?

Try to run a diagnostic and zero it out (it’s going to kill all data, but fix bad sector if they are not to damaged) with a hard drive tool. I use HD Tune but you could use WD’s DLG.
