My Book Essential Edition (WD5000)

Hi All

I have a My Book Essential Edition (WD5000) which is about 75% full.

It’s NTFS formatted and works perfectly on a Windows Vista 32 Bit machine and did work on my Windows Vista 64 Bit machine until a few days ago.

On the 32 Bit machine I can see all directories and all files within those directories.

On the 64 Bit machine I can see the drive and its usage is reported as 368 GB.

I can see all of the top level directories but when I look in each directory they contain no data.

I believe the installation of software to talk to my new MyBookLiveDuo (Setup as RAID1) may have contributed to this failure since this is the only thing that has changed.

Has anyone seen this issue before with the My Book Essential Edition (WD5000)?

As I say the drive is OK as it still works with the 32 Bit machine but not with the 64 Bit which it previously has done.

Thanks

Hello, have you checked if the files are hidden or have you tried to copy a new files from the 64Bit PC? Check the link below for the steps to show hidden files.

Hi Ichigo

Thanks for getting back to me regarding my issue. I had already checked the the files were not hidden as I had seen this in another post.

I have fixed the issue by un-installing the WD Quick View  application.

With the application installed I cannot see any data on the drive but when I un-install the application everything works fine.

As a result I intend to report this as a bug.

Thanks
