My old PC was on Windows XP and I had my book essential backing up my files. My old PC died, and I bought a new one which has Windows 7. W7 doesn’t support MBE. Tech support from WD has not been helpful. I am not real computer savvy. Can anyone give me a simple solution to this to get my files back?. Thanks for your help.
Need a little more info to help. What is MBE? What did you use to backup old PC? Whaty version of windows 7 do you have?

Windows 7 Home Premium. By MBE I mean My Book Essential (I was running out of time and tried to abbreviate). I used My Book Essential to back-up my old PC. I thought it did it automatically. Thanks.

I’m not sure what you mean by Win7 not supporting a MyBook Essentials.
I’m running Win7 and I have no problems with any of my MyBook Essentials drives.
I’m thinking the issue is that Win7 and WinXP store things in different places. If you backed up from the WinXP and then try to restore them on Win7, it would put them in their “old” locations, not where Win7 expects to find them.
