My book crash when copying data

Hi, I am using My book essential 1140 2TB USB 3.0 for 1.5 years. It runs perfectly. But now its not showing to my computer. In disk management, its wants initialize before logical disk manager can access it with selected partition style.

Also few days ago, while copying from my book, it stop responding. Sometimes also stop reading and then start again, But disk was in full active. Data life guard smart reports fail. Can i recover my data? and if i format, will it be good?

My pc is windows 8.1 64bit with USB 3.0
