My Book 8TB - back up format question

I have just installed this device and has been making its first back up (I hope) and cluncking away for over 2 1/2 hours (it has backed up 11GB of 298 GB in that time).
My old WD Book 500GB would make a complete and then incremental back ups in no more than 30 mins. This new WD 8TB does not appear to have an option to just add new / changed files to the back up, once it has created a full back up.
Q1- Is that correct ?
Q2 - Does it have the incremental facility ?
Q3- How will the default hourly back up be completed, if not ?
