Music won't play.

I don’t know if anyone else has had this problem, but all of the music that I have transferred to my sansa will not play. I’m getting real mad at this thing. I dont know what to do. I have tried turning if off for a few hours and they still wont play. Can someone please help me? Thank You!

What format are the music files you transferred? What about the bit rate?

What happens when you try to play a song?  What do you see on the display?

all of the song are mp3 format, and what do u mean by bit rate. o another thing there is no sound at all and i have the volume all the way up and i check all the settings

Bitrate basically means the amount of song data that is stored into the song file.  The higher the bitrate, the larger the file but the better the song sounds.  The Connect can only play songs within a certain bitrate range, though I seriously doubt your songs are out of that range.

There are a few different ways to tell what the bitrate of a song is.  You can set up Windows Media Player and other music managers to show it to you, or you can right-click on the file in Windows Explorer, select Properties, and (I think) click on the Advanced button.

Have you tried playing the song both through headphones and through the built-in speaker?

I’ve got the same issue.  Out of the blue one morning the Connect will not produce any sound effects nor play any music.  The time lapse bar shown when a song is playing does not show any movement; only when the play/pause button is pressed repeatedly.  AT that point it will advance 1 sec. each time the button is pressed, but still no sound.

Any suggestions?

I am a newbie to the site, and I have registered specifically to inquire about this problem. in asking around at retailers I was told I should see if updates are available to download for my connect. I came upon this site and hope I can resolve this issue without having to send it back…
