Maintaining Song Order When Laoding To Fuze

My first message may not have been clear. I loaded a CD into WMP, when I sync’d it into the Fuze, the sogs were in alpha order not as there are on the CD. Are the songs always put into alpha went sync’d?

Yes. Unless you set the tags otherwise. I believe (I havent done this in a long time) Each Tag must contain a track number in order for the Fuze to keep that order. Something else you could try is to create a playlist with the proper order then add the playlist to the Fuze and play the songs using the playlist.

OK, using Windows Media Player,  look for Tools or right-click on the words Windows Media Player on the top left for a menu that includes Tools.

Go to Options and Rip Music.  You’ll see Rip Music to this Location–you can make or choose a folder. (Mine is cleverly named Albums.) And then under File Name…there’s a checklist. Make sure Track Number is in that list, and when it rips albums it will include track number in the filename–and, I’m assuming, in the ID3 tags.

But you do have to be online when ripping to get that information.

While you’re in there, change the format to mp3 and move the slider most of the way toward Best Quality, at least 192 kbps.

When ripping a CD, Media Monkey makes choosing a quality level a no-brainer.  They have the different levels up to very high quality at 192 kbps to “near CD” quality at 256 kbps to “insane” quality at 320 kbps. :smileyvery-happy:

But you do have to tweak the free Media Monkey by loading lame_enc.dll to replace the one that times out. Use the search box with lame_enc.dll to find instructions on that.

Thanks for that tip.   I’ve replaced the lame_enc.dll a while ago, from reading your previous posts.  It works much better than what I was doing so that I could keep using MM beyond the time period.

And if you rip to FLAC, replacing the lame_enc.dll will let you convert those FLACs to mp3’s for use on your DAP, with a lossless copy on your hard drive. A nice option to have.
