Mac updater hangs

I just downloaded the Mac Universal Updater 3008 (for My Passport Studio)

Running the updater gets me as far as the “Updating your WD firmware” screen, where it hangs.

Even tried reboting, the Mac; no joy.

Mac Pro 64-bit 10.6.7

It’s been running for an hour so far, without working. Suggestions?

Firmware issues are delicate as they can kill the drive… The only thing I can suggest you is to either try another USB cable or another Mac.

On the other hand, do you truly need to update the Firmware? You know the old saying: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
