Is SDCZ88-128G a fixed disk or not?

Hello,

I already have SDCZ80-064G-G46 drive and it’s a fixed disk (this drive is listed in Performance tab from Windows 8.1 Task Manager) and require a special preparation to install Windows 8.1 from it, using Easy2Boot.

My question is: SanDisk SDCZ88-128G is also a fixed disk (appear or not in Performance tab from Windows 8/8.1 Task Manager)?

Thanks!

Dear Mihai,

Thank you for contacting SanDisk Technical Support. My name is Cornilius L. and I am here to assist you.

In mid-2013 SanDisk changed production of its USB Drives configured as fixed disk to meet a perceived certification requirement. SanDisk USB Drives with either removable or fixed disk configuration will work the same when used for data storage on Windows PC and Mac computers. SanDisk is in the process of reverting back to producing USB Drives configured as removable disk.

NOTE: There is no tool available to change SanDisk USB Drives between fixed and removable disk configuration.

Unfortunately, SanDisk Technical support has no way to identify by the packaging or reseller stock whether the drive will show up as fixed or removable disk.

Please provide the below information so that we can verify the authenticity of your drive and register it for warranty purposes:

- Product code and serial number (please provide all the codes written on the product)
- Color of the drive
- Capacity of the drive
- Place of purchase
- Date of purchase (MM/DD/YYYY)
- Do you see the letter "R" or the word "Refurb/Refurbished" at the back of the product?
- How was the product packaged at the time of purchase?
- Please also provide your phone number (we use this only for follow up on your case should it be needed and do not use it for other purposes)

Thank you for your kind cooperation and for allowing us to be of service to you!

Hi, I've already posted the next question on SanDisk forums:
"I already have SDCZ80-064G-G46 drive and it's a fixed disk (this drive is listed in Performance tab from Windows 8.1 Task Manager) and require a special preparation to install Windows 8.1 from it, using Easy2Boot.

My question is: SanDisk SDCZ88-128G is also a fixed disk (appear or not in Performance tab from Windows 8/8.1 Task Manager)?"

Many thanks!

So, my question got an answer and I consider that SDCZ88-128G is a fixed USB drive.

Thanks!

that is incorrect info. All SDCZ88 are made as removable. These came out after sandisk switch back to making drives removable.

@drlucky

I want to believe you, but a user called Benjamin B. from newegg said that the drive appear in CrystalDiskInfo, and can read from there the drive temperature, which means that the drive is a fixed disk.

His comment is from 3/4/2014
