iMac not reading 2TB My Book

Have had this drive for almost 2 years, never had any problems with powering down or plugging in/out.

In the process of moving the mini USB came out of the external, and I got the “This disk was not ejected properly” message. Now my Mac will not read it.

I have restarted, powered down, tried multiple variations of plugging the USB in/power cord in and out, put the power cord in the wall. The external turns on and has a full light, but the it will not show up on the Mac. Desktop, disk utility, anything.

I do not have a different Mac to check.

What is my next step? I have extremely important files on this drive (and a lot of them) and would very much like to not lose them.

The partition must likely got corrupted after the cable was disconnected abruptly.

You can try a Data Recovery application or contact a data recovery company.
