If you have a WD MyBook with eSata that powers off when going to sleep read this!

I have a My Book Essential 1TB external hard drive and I run Vista. I have read a lot of people who have problems with their drives powering off when going to sleep and the drive disappears. Mine has always worked fine with eSata and I can tell you the fix…well at least the fix that works with my computers. The problem is the jmicron drivers. If you uninstall all your jmicron drivers you have on your computer, restart your computer and go to www.jmicron.com and click “support” it will take you to where you can download jmb36x drivers. Click on JMB362…and then click on version “1.17.56 eSata”…it is the ONLY version that will work for me…if I download the newest version or any other version it will not work right for me. I hope this fixes everyones problems. Also, at least on my old computer, you have to make sure you have the eSata set right in the BIOS…on my old computer it gave me options for AHCI or IDE…make sure it is on AHCI. My new computer just gives me the options of Auto or eSata…both options works for me. Hope this fixes your problems!
