If this message appears than you are running the install from the .dmg

Hi,

I reformatted my USB3 My Book, downloaded the WDSMARTWARE MACOSX, copied and ran program from the external drive. I’m still getting this message. I ejected the .dmg from the desktop.

Am I missing something?

If you are trying to install smartware, download it from the link below, copy it to your desktop and install it from there.

This could happen if the firmware is not up to date

update the firmware and then try the steps suggested by Alucard
