Go to the store and buy a wall adapter. Plug it in to that and let it sit for a while (Maybe 12 hours) and then try it.

Why would a wall charger be better than the standard USB cable? (other than not requiring the PC to run the whole time)

Not only are some of them capable of delivering more current, but the screen of the player will go to sleep in your normal backlight time setting, as opposed to staying on for a while when connected to your computer.

Also, I never connect my players to the computer unless I am adding/removing content…I always charge via wall charger, and I can’t help but wonder if that’s part of the reason why I seem to have so few problems with my Sansas compared with many people in this forum. It may have nothing to do with it at all… also, it’s alot easier to bring a wall charger with you if you go on a weekend trip somewhere than it is a computer.

Actually, the main reason to try using a wall charger was mentioned is because when the battery has gotten to low the processor in the Fuze can become mixed up bouncing back and forth between trying to make a connection with the computer (and failing due to lack of power for the processor to operate correctly) and trying to switch into charging mode.

By using a wall charger you eliminate it having to mess around with trying to figure out how to make a computer connection and it can then just go directly into charging mode instead.

The fuze apparently is set to give priority to connecting to the pc over the charging operation since it’ll drop charging to communicate with the pc.
