HRESULT 0x80010105

Recently, my WD Smartware software will not load and gives an error code HRESULT 0x80010105. I believe it is due to a recent attempt by Windows update which failed to install. Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions? I am running Windows 10 version 1703 Build 15063.413.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software?

I have not tried that. I do not believe that is a problem as the software was working fine before the windows update. If others are having this problem I would consider a reinstall but I don’t like the Smartware backup program starting a new backup when you do a reinstall. I had a similar problem with Smartware about a year ago and after trying all sorts of suggested fixes it turned out to be a problem with Windows update.

@Arnold_Moser If you think this was caused by a Windows Update have you tried a System Restore? This can be done through the Control Panel>System. See image below.

System restore to Windows 10 Version 1703 Build 10563.296 fixed my problem with Smartware. It now functions without any errors. Thanks for the suggestion.

Windows update almost immediately started an update back to Windows 10 version 1703 Build 15063.413. This time it must have installed correctly as Smartware is still functioning correctly with no errors.
