How not to have backup missed in wd smartware pro

Hi,

I have WDMyCloud for 2 weeks and I have set scheduled backup for a specific hour once a week.
But the 2nd backup hasn’t started automatically and there is an info that the latest backup is missed.

What should I do so as it would start automatically. (By automatically, I mean without me or anybody pressing the power-on button.)

Is the computer powered off at the time you want the backup to run? If so there is NOTHING Smartware (Pro) can do about it. If the computer is powered off then typically one has to turn the computer back on manually, or use some sort of power outlet timer or Wake on Lan option.

I wrote unclearly.

Well, I rarely ‘‘completely’’ power-off this computer. In fact it is laptop and usually I just close it.
So in most cases it is hibernated or sleeping, I suppose.

Generally when Windows is in “sleep” mode or in “hibernation” mode many tasks that software would usually run, may not run unless one has a properly configured entry in the Task Scheduler program to wake the computer prior to the scheduled task within the specific program.

With Windows, one potential way to deal with Smartware (or any backup program) not running while a computer is in sleep mode or possibly hibernation mode is to configure an event in the Task Schedule to wake the computer a minute or two before the scheduled time Smartware backup runs.

Under Windows, you can change the option of what happens when you close the lid on a laptop or when a computer goes into “sleep” or “hibernation” mode. One can perform an internet search for their version of Windows to find the specific steps to change or modify those settings.

Thank you for your help. I will try with the Task Scheduler.

Just one remark to anybody from WD if they are reading this. I am not a computer expert but also I am not a complete rookie. If I didn’t check the status of the backup, I might be happy that everything is in order.
I followed WD instructions, but I was suspicious whether it’ll work fine. If the instructions are given they should also cover this situation.
