How long to configure WD My Book Duo to raid 1 mirror?
The capacity is 8 TB
It could take a while. 4-8 hours.
It’s been 36 hours and still configuring.
Okay, it shouldn’t have taken long at all to configure the drive to raid 1.
Some questions:
- how did you reconfigure the raid? Did you use the WD Drive Utility?
- Did you set it to do a complete format?
- Was your computer running the whole time?
- How long ago did you purchase the drive?
- What OS is your pc running?
- WDDriveUtilitiesSetup
- I don’t recall being asked about formating
- computer runing non stop.

- win 7 64 bit
I restarted my computer and:
I ran WD Drive Utilities says
raid status : raid 1 mirrored
raid status healthy
drive 1 status online
drive 2 status online
but not yet formated.
windows disk manager sees 3724.99 gb unallocated
disk unknown and not initalalize
i thought wd utilites would format the drives
thank you for your help.
what do i do next?
problem solved.
i erased the drive with wd utilites and compter sees the drive.
i was not sure if erase was the same as format drive.
the last time i erased any thing it was pencil marks on paper
