I’m having trouble with the new My Book drive. My attempt to use WD Backup failed. The software did not work. It appeared to work but when I paused and came back to resume the backup, I got a notice telling me I needed to update my firmware. So I let it make the update. At that point, it requested my password, but it no longer worked. Since I couldn’t get past the password block, the software gave me an option to erase and start over, so I did that. But then the WD Backup no longer did anything and failed at every attempt to us it, and only the WD Smartware can access the drive. The Smartware appears to be doing the backup OK now, but the WD Backup appears useless. I’m probably missing something and am confused. I don’t understand why the software can’t be more automatic and user friendly.
Hi, you can try uninstalling the WD Backup and re-installing it. Can you share a screenshot of the error that you are seeing?
