I’ve got a WDC external hard drive in the My Book Family. It is used only by me. I set up the lock password and now I want to permanently remove it. HOW do I do this? I tried the Knowledge Base and it was far too complicated for me to clearly understand. Can you tell me how to permanently remove the lock function?

Go to setting on Smartware then:
- Click on drive settings
- Security
- Enter the password
- Check the option to remove security

help, i have the same issue, but no longer no my password, so i click on erase option and i get a error message saying to many attemps, so how can i reformat the drive now
