How common is the headphone jack failure?

I just had my 8GB Fuze fail and was wondering how common this is.

Never heard of it before.

It happened on my iAudio M5L so I ordered a Fuze. The iAudio dismantles (tiny screws like on glasses), and my mate in work soldered the headphone jack back on, so now I have two players!

But it does happen. In the case of the M5L, it looks as if the connector unit which includes the jack and also an expansion port for a remote control, is just glued down and relies on pressure for contact to me made and it comes loose after a while.

It happened on my Sony NW S706. Little did I know I could’ve got it repaired free (until I took it apart and poked at it myself and realized I definitely couldn’t fix it myself xD
