Help me get mounted!

Hello All - Recently purchased a WD My Passport Ultra for use as music sever in home network. I have formatted the device to Mac and plugged it via USB into my ASUS RT66 Router. The router recognizes the HDD, but says it is unmounted. When I format to NTFS, the device is recognized, but this will not work for my current needs. Any suggestions on how to get “mounted”?
