I have several WD MY passports external drives but when i go to safely remove the drive it keeps telling me that “Windows cant stop your volume device because a program is still using it, close any programs and try again” so how do i find out which program is still using the drive and how can i safely remove it from my PC?

YES! This is a WINDOWS ISSUE AND NOT A DRIVE ISSUE; it can happen with any drive or brand of drive. Google for the error message and see what you get; zillions of hits.
So is there a fix for it?
Google as suggested and you will find solutions galore. How long have you been using external drives? This is a VERY common occurrence. This is a Microsoft issue, not a WD issue, as I said before. Reasons for problem are many so solutions are many.
You can open a task manager to check which program is running.
