I have a 700GB My Passport external hard drive. I’m using Windows 8, although the hard drive wasn’t first used on this computer and was using Windows 7 (I don’t know if that has anything to do with it… Just in case).
Just recently I have been experiencing issues with my external hard drive. When trying to watch anything on it, the media would just lag and take forever to load. Unwatchable unless I copied it off the hard drive onto my PC. Then it corrupted large files that I would copy on to it.
Trying to transfer things off wasn’t a problem, except for the corrupted files that i just had to leave on it.
I reformatted it which took longer than a brand new 2TB hard drive, same model. I also googled solutions which told me to use the Disk Management program on my computer. Which made me delete the drive and manually set it up.
Now it’s not letting me transfer any large files on to it.
It’s got nothing to do with my laptop, as it is new and I’ve just recently put everything that I’m trying to get on to my hard drive on to someone else’s and it worked fine.
If someone could help, that would be awesome! As this is my second hard drive in a couple of years and I really don’t want to buy another one because my last one stuffed up as well.
