my mother got the 1tb external hard drive for mac. she has the 2017 macbook pro. When she tried to use the hard drive, she was prompted to install the WD software. It needed to do an update, but everytime it tries it says it fails to update. When i used it on my 2015 mac book air, everything downloaded and updated properly without fail. What do i do to make it update and work properly on hers?

If the issue is specifically on one mac, then you would need to contact Apple support. However, these drives do need any additional software.
