Frequently Asked Question (FAQs)

As a general matter, the Clip displays its files based on the ID3 tags, not the file/folder names (exceptions exist for podcasts and audiobooks, and files in those folders).  Are your files’ ID3 tags corrrect?

Is itstill imaginable?

Thats no way to get any help. so instead of explaining it I will just say

WMP 11

MTP Porting Kit

When you can be a little more polite and mature on the forum, I would be glad to explain it to you further.

Your first Mistake is using Vista Go back to XP Pro

My player connects just fine to my Vista machine–never had an issue with it, from the beginning.

Can you help people to understand what, exactly, you are doing, and what, exactly, the results are?

What Clip USB modes have you tried (under Settings on the Clip)–have you tried the other modes?  Do you have WMP 10 or above on your PC (if not, you should install it)?  Have you tried alternate USB ports, and alternate USB cables?  Have you tried a soft reset (on switch held uppermost for 15-20 seconds)?  Have you updated to the most recent firmware (see the sticky thread at the top of the forum) and tried to reapply the firmware?  Have you tried to connect in forced MSC mode (Clip on hold, and then connect to your computer while holding the center button down)?

I have tried doing all the fixes that I can find.  I can’t get my clip to show up in My Computer.  It used to work and I had it loaded with music.  I wanted new music but at least I was able to use it.  That was until I tried formating it to try to get it to work.  I don’t know what to do.  I need help.  I have spent so many hours.  I just didn’t want to buy an Ipod.  Is it the player?  MTP porting kit.  Formating. Pushing the center button with unit in hold while connecting it.  Nothing does anything.  Tried adding new MTP hardware.  Nothing has worked.  Wish I had never bought this thing.  Can anyone help?

Hey Mr. Smiley Guy…

I have a 4G Clip and altho i didnt connect it to a Apple, it seems like its is going crazy. I have refomatted it. Still doesnt work.

Lately it has been playing songs and then the screen and/or the player will just completely turn off. Also it is taking forever to

turn it on. To turn it on, which doesnt all always work, I have to hold the power button up and press either the middle button,

the home button or the up button.

Please help me. I dont know what to do. Should I try that whole DOS thing too and hope that the thing works??

I emailed Sansa, but they send me to a place that doesnt allow me to see the replies. I am so fustrated.

Thanks

Karen

I have a similar problem. I have a Sansa Clip 2 GB and have Windows Vista as well. Everything was working fine and had plenty of music downloaded. But now when I plug in the device and go to My Computer, all my music files are gone. They are still on the clip so at least I can listen to music still. But I can no longer transfer any songs onto the clip from my computer. It’s very strange. I can click on the Sansa Clip on My Computer…but I can no longer see a list of my music.

Normally I would attribute a problem like this to my low computer I.Q. But I am not doing anything different than I was earlier and all of a sudden I can’t download any new songs.

If your music is suddenly “missing” from the PC side, yet it is available on the player, you are connecting in the wrong USB mode.  Files transferred in MTP are not available while in MSC, and vice versa.

If you haven’t updated your firmware, in which case the setting may change, you may be in Auto Detect, where the Clip will attempt MTP, then it will fall to MSC if unsuccessful.

Your culprit may be Windows Media Player, the driver for MTP mode.

Is there any way to increase the volume in the clip? I want to use it in my motorcycle helmet and the volume is to low to hear.

Did you set your firmware to either US or Worldwide when you installed?  If so, there should be a volume option under Settings, make sure it is set to high.  If you installed set to Europe, re-install and set to US or Worldwide, and follow the above.

You could use a headphone amp. Yes, it’s another device but it might help.

Either that, or put some mufflers on that hog!

Help.  All of the FAQ links in the first post of this thread are dead.  Does anyone know where they have been moved to?

Howdy folks, here’s one for you…

When I’m in FM Radio mode and lower the volume, it diminishes slightly then goes mute. There seems to be no sensitivity between mute and approx “mid-volume”.

When at no volume, one click on the volume control brings me back to the mid-volume setting.

Any ideas please? (as sometimes the mid-volume setting is too loud!)

Have you updated the firmware? This issue was addressed some time ago.

Oh.  :stuck_out_tongue:

Total newbie here… please send me info for how to do that and also, when i do, will it affect music my files in the Clip+ ?

Thanks,

Don

Do you have the original Clip or the newer Clip+? This is the Clip board. The Clip+ board is over here.

The FM lower volume steps were indeed fixed in a firmware update to the original Clip. The same issue plagues the new Clip+, but SanDisk is still working on the fix.
