Folder is hidden when connecting to laptop

Hi Guys, 

I have a 1TB WD hard drive which I use to store TV shows and movies

I connect it directly via usb to my samsung tv

The problem I have is that my folder which contains the tv shows cannot be seen when plugged into my macbook

However it can be seen when plugged into the tv

It was working fine for months, then 1 day it started behaving like this

Has anyone seen this issue before??
