Folder gone missing on my WD Passport!

I store files on my passport both encrypted via the Dmailer.sync and just regularly. I was trying to access a folder on my passport via ArcView GIS. I was getting some error messages, something about a cyclical location. I ejected the device, and then reattached. I got the message that there were some errors and the do a an scan. So I did the scan and now the entire folder is just gone. All my other folders are there. This folder is the one I use for everything - including all my thesis data!!

I generally have problems with some computers not recognizing the passport and sometimes have problems ejecting it, but never have had a whole folder gone missing! 

Is there anyway I can recover this folder???

Sounds like data corruption, you can use a data recovery program like recuva to try to recover your files, just don’t save any new files into the Passport until you recover the information, but yikes, your thesis data saved in only one place? Really? :confounded:.
