For some of the Sansa models there is firmware update software you run on your computer that will automatically update the firmware in the player from a server when you connect the player to your computer. I noticed the Sansa Connect isn’t listed as one of the players. Does it update the firmware via its own wireless connection and if so does it do it automatically?
Yes. The Sansa Connect updates firmware automatically when connected via WiFi (e.g. listening to internet radio). It could take up to 20 minutes to get an update, but I have typically seen them in under 5 minutes.
The current firmware version is ZAP 1.0.1.27236r.
