Files are in Vault, cannot retrieve

MacBook Air 10.6.8 Mountain Lion. Cruzer 32 GB

I successfully put files into the vault, then am asked to submit password to open. I do and can see the files in the list, but dragging to my desktop is futile. I’ve about clicked myself to death, trying.

I have practically worn the skin off my fingers trying to retrieve files that are in my secure vault.  My regulator will be happy, my files are so secure, I can’t even get at them myself.  What is going on???

talked with a tech support guy; hold cursor over the file, a drop-down menu will allow for copy, or delete. that’s all there is to it.
