File date time automatically added up by 8hrs after importing via SD card slot

I usually shoot videos with multiple cameras during a trip, and I back up my photos and videos to My Passport Wireless Pro.

However, I found there are problems on the date time of my videos.

  1. the “date created” time is not the same as the “date taken” time.
Instead of the real “date taken” time, the “date created” becomes the time that I back up my SD card to My Passport Wireless Pro.

  2. Sometimes, the real “date taken” time can be partially preserved into the “date modified” time. I said “partially”, because my file’s “date modified” time is automatically added up by 8hrs. I am not sure if it is related to living in a GMT+8 zone.

Here is an example.

There is no such problem if I just transfer my files from SD card to my macbook directly.

date created: correct
date modified: correct

But if I transfer the files from SD card to My passport wireless Pro first, then from My passport wireless Pro to my macbook.

date created: → moment that I backup SD card to My passport wireless Pro
date modified: + 8 hrs

The date time of the videos are very important to me as I am using it to sort the videos into a chronological order before the editing process.

Therefore, I am wondering if there is a way to back up my videos to My passport wireless Pro without losing the “date created” time or losing the correct “date modified” time.

Thank you.

Hi,

The uploaded photos are a copy of the original photos stored on the SD Card. Since the uploaded photos are new files, the “Date Created” will be the date they were uploaded.
