Error when opening smartware

Hello,

I turned on my pc this afternoon and then plugged in my WD My Passport Hard Drive and then noticed that the little icon for the smartware was not in the system tray.  I then went to start>programs>WesternDigital and tried to open up the Smartware but got an error box instead.

The information in the box was as follows:

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {81213AB4-5937-88CD-66B4BC80DF73} failed due to the following error: 80070422.  The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070422).

I know that the smartware icon was in the system tray just a couple of days ago (don’t recall whether or not it was there yesterday).  But now it is not there and I cannot open the software.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks So Very Much

Hello,

For some reason smartware might be missing some files.

As a recommendation, you can try to uninstall the software and download the latest version of the software from our website.

Check the link below to download the software.

Oddly enough that is exactly what I ended up doing and all is working fine now.  Sorry that it took so long to reply - just got back from an out of town family emergency and finally getting through all my emails and such.

Thanks Again - I greatly appreciate it!
