Hi
I am thinking of buying a 2 TB My Passport as I am very interested in its encryption capabilities.
I have some detailed questions. Could you please help me by providing some answers?
-
As I understand, the encryption capability is available only for Windows. I was wondering, is there really no way of accessing encrypted data from a Linux or Mac?

If I am not mistaken (please confirm), the disk encryption can be turned on and off at any time.
Would this imply that each time that I decide to switch the encryption from on to off, or viceversa, the WHOLE CONTENTS of the encrypted partition will have to be encrypted/decrypted? If so, how many hours would this process take?
- Can the hard disk encryption be enabled only on one part of the hard disk (e.g. a partition), leaving all the rest unencrypted and freely accessible?
4) Can I encrypt different partitions with different passwords (on the same disk)?
5) Is the encryption software ‘hardwired’ into the hard disk’s ROM? That is, would it be possible for some malicious person to delete it from the hard disk or to tamper with it?
Sorry for being so demanding with my questions, I really need some detailed answers.
Thanks to all in advance.
Ruppy
