e260 Stuck on refresh data base and won't do ANYTHING

My e260, which I have done the whole recovery mode thing, when I turn it on it gets stuck on refresh database, you have to 30 second power button to turn it off.  And when I plug it in, my computer can’t see it.  Not just won’t reconise it, nothing pops up, in windows computer, there is nothing there, but it does charge.

Follow the directions here to format your player:

Don’t you guys say not to format the player after you have done the whole recovery mode thing?

Depends on exactly what you mean by “the whole recovery mode thing”.

What everybody warns about is using/allowing Windows to format the 16MB partition while connected in Recovery Mode. This will brick your player.

Instead, to format you create a new folder or file (it doesn’t matter which) and name it sansa.fmt. Place this in the 16MB area. This will tell the device to format itself upon disconnecting from the computer.
