Hi all, Managed to drop my 1TB My book essential, In the fall it ripped out the usb connector. I have taken it out of the case and the USB connector is on a small component/card? Will a local computer repair store be able to bypasss this connection and retrieve my info, or will I need to buy a new component/card. I live in the UK and I’m not sure if these components are available over here. Thanks
Hello, depending on the my book model you have, it could have data encryption, so you might be able to fix it with a new PCB board, but you wont be able to recover your files.

Another board might work or maybe soldering on a new port. The drive may also be physically damages and need professional recovery. The more you mess with it yourself the more difficult professional recovery becomes.
