Hello,
WD Drives do not require any drives in order to work on Windows or Mac.
In relation to the software please let us know the model number of your drive to verify if it did included any software for Mac.
I tried to back up my MBP (247 GB total space needed to back up) to my 250GB WD HD. There are 70 GBs taken up on the WD (backup from my old Toshiba Laptop) when connected to the MBP but the files aren’t visible. I tried to delete the 70 GBs on the WD hooked up to a friend’s laptop (my old laptop’s HD recently went dead) and the HD won’t appear under My Computer. The funny thing is that the HD shows up under Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Devices and Printers.
How can I wipe out the HD clean to fully back up my MBP?
Thanks,
Daniel
You will need to go into the disk utilities in the MAC, and wipe/format the drive there.
Optimally, re-partition the drive first.
That will give you all the available space the drive has.
Be aware though that 247G of data may not necessarily fit onto a 250G drive depending on how everything is being calculated, but hopefully you’ll be OK.
