I have just finished speaking with WD support thru a chat. They said my drive is bad and will have to do data recovery. There are a lot of important memories on my WD passport. Can anyone recommend the best one and I also cannot afford to pay a fortune
thank you
Depending on what you mean by “my drive is bad”
I guess, you could attempt Software Data Recovery
but if the problem is more serious and requires a Professional Data Recovery service … then you will need to contact them and get a quote.
Approximately … Logical Failure will cost between $300~$1000
Mechanical Failure will cost between $500~$3000
Now you know why everyone says to keep backups of your important memories … because it’s significantly cheaper to have a backup drive then is to pay for data recovery on a failed hard drive.
The support person told me my drive is bad pc wont even recognize it we have had this portable drive for probably 15 years most of the pictures are older we tried my husbands older pc and lo and behold the files came up so we are going to try and retrieve the files in case something malfunctions again we will also.be buying a new portable hard drive and replace it more often for sure after this
