Hi, here’s the problem. the usb port on my 1tb my book essential broke off, so I bought a thermaltake blackwidow harddrive esata + usb docking station, now when i bring up the hard drive there is nothing on it and the computer keeps telling me to format it, we’ve got lots of old family pics on it and I don’t want to lose them. I don’t understand how they could have disappeared…please help
Did you try and have the port soldered back on? I think the board that the USB port was attached to has something to do with it. I can’t remember if it was encryption or something else.

I reattached the port to the board making sure it made proper contact but it will not show up on the computer, that’s when I bought the docking station
