I just purchased a my book essentials 1 terbyte and i need to drag and drop a lot of files that the back up doesnt do on to this external HD but where do i drag them? it seems wrong to drag them in to where all applications and stuff are like the smartware and usermanuals are and what not. Is the right way just to drag them in there or do i have to do something before i start dragging and dropping? I need to know as soon as possible. I have to send my laptop to the best buy service center tomorrow and need the files so i can put them back on the laptop when it gets back.
Hey there, When the drive is connected you see a WD Smartware icon for the software and another one called My Book for the drive itself, there are some folders factory default included but none of them should prevent you from adding more files. You can see the details on the links that I found below and I think that you could use them.
I would simply ad a file and copy your data to that. Then you will easily find what you copied manually. Remember one copy is not a backup make sure you have at least 2 copies of all important data.
