I’ve just had a restore my windows 10 machine back to its factory settings because the clever people in Microsoft released an update that totally messed up the PC. Luckily enough everything is backed up, however, everything that I have retrieved now needs permission to view. Is there an easy way of getting around this rather than granting permission and sharing the files to my username? I don’t mind restoring the PC again if it means that it’s an easier option than going through every single file. It’s just that every program that I am trying to install again is saying that it needs permission to access the files stored, and some programs are having problems with certain processes.
Hello there,
Try the following steps below:
1- Right click the folder that you would like to change the permissions which in this case would be the retrieved folder.
2- Click on the Properties option.
3- Select the Security tab, then click on Edit and on the new window click on Add.
4- The next window will let you add a new user, please type in Everyone and then click on Check Names, click on Ok to close the window and save the changes.
5- A new user will be added to the list (Everyone) and it will let you modify the permissions for it. Please check all the Allow permissions for Everyone and then click on Apply and then on Ok to save the changes. Now you may close the Properties window.
Hope this helps
