After upgrading DiskUtility to the latest version, two of my three external WD disks are not seen anymore. One of those is password protected, so I need that Utility to unlock it. Or: how can I go back to the old version of that Utility. The old version was from 2016.
Hi HansMeulen,
I would suggest you to try and connect the drive on a different computer and try to install the software on another computer to isolate the issue.
Thank you for your suggestion, but I reinstalled the old version of WD Drive Utilities, then the two ‘old’ ones showed up, but not the new one. So now I can unlock the old one, when I need it. The new one has no password and handles itself.
Of course there is something wrong with the new WD Drive Utilities, because the ‘old’ ones are from spring 2017, thus they aren’t that old. (Or am I supposed buy new ones, every two or three months?, because another WD Drive that I bought in spring 2017, stopped working for ever, few weeks ago.) I still hang on with WD, but if this new one stops within two years, I’ll never buy another WD-Disk!
Sincerely Yours,
Hans Meulen
