Discharge rate WMA vs MP3

Do WMA songs cause the battery to discharge faster than MP3 songs?

I think that would depend on the sound output of the song. If Mp3 would have a lower bitrate meaning lower quality than the WMA test song then, WMA would use up more juice than mp3.

Yes, they do…the Sansa players’ MP3 decoding is the most power-efficient. WMA, FLAC, and Ogg Vorbis will suck a lot more battery power.
