When I drag and drop a two disc album onto the Clip+ it will play back D01:T01, D02:T01, D01:T02, D02:T02, D01:T03 etc. This is obviously incorrect, and while I know I can fix it by creating a playlist manually for the album, that is an absolute waste of my time.
How does a finished piece of hardware have such sloppy firmware? This is something that should have been ironed out generations ago. My 6 year old iPod Shuffle (gasp) does this correctly…
BTW, mp3s were encoded with LAME3.98r and have tag types: id3v2|id3v1…
Also is there anything that can be done about album artists. I put one mix CD on my device and now my artists menu is flooded with 30 artists I don’t know or care to know about.
My tags are correct. I have Artist, Album, Album Artist, Title, Track Number, Total Discs, Disc Number and Genre. There is only one logical way to group the files and that is: Album Artist || Artist -> Album -> Disc -> Track Number. Any other way would not make sense. As well this is something that could(should) be fixed in a matter of minutes.
As for the Album Artist issue of having many artists. Its a personal thing, and less of an issue.
I’ll just make playlists until a Sandisk employee takes the 10 minutes necessary to fix the problem. If need be I can Paypal him/her their 1/6th of an hourly wage to slip it in without disturbing the bosses…

Well, it’s not the only way. Logical or not, your Sansa (by the tags) groups them by Artist -> Album/Disc -> Track Title (and/or # if it’s part of the Title).

I wouldn’t hold your breath; it’s been like this for years (with all the Sansa mp3 players), and is unlikely to change in the forseeable future.
