I want to manually copy all my audiobooks on my Windows PC to an external hard drive. What is the difference in a 3TB “My Book” versus “Elements” External Hard drive? I mean, why should I buy one versus the other? Thanks.
Hi
The main technical difference is software. There is also a difference in cost and maximum size.
MY BOOK
Uses WD Backup software to automatically backup selected file types when added or changed. Prices are a bit higher; for the software. Largest size it 8TB (TeraBytes). This would be good for users without much computer experience. There is a Password feature which provides some security, but if the Password is forgotten, there is no way to recover the files.
ELEMENTS
Uses standard Windows Copy or Move software for user to select files and where to save them. Prices are lower. Largest size is 4TB. Windows software requires some computer experience.
Caution for both.
There are two approaches: 1. COPY files from the computer to the drive and also retain them on the computer. 2. MOVE files from the computer to the external drive.
Keep in mind that these storage drives are mechanical, same as used within computers, and so subject to breakdowns due to aging. It would be safest to have the files in two places!
I hope this helps.

I cannot recall if I said “thanks” for sending me the information below. So, here is a belated THANK YOU.
