There are some old backups from old computers on my WD external drive. How can I delete them.
It depends on how you made your old backups. If they were created using WD SmartWare or WD Backup you can delete files in the swstor folder within your hard drive. However, this may cause for the entire backup to be dropped and a new backup may need to be created.
This is because those apps were designed for backups rather than archival or synchronization.
Thank you for your reply. I believe that it will be quite useful. It is a long story but there are backups from an old computer and for reasons that are not important I started using a Windows backup program on my WD drive. The Windows backup system I find to be very difficult to work with. So I want to wipe out what is the Windows generated backup and also files from an old computer. So I don’t really care if I have to back up my computer one more time using the WD programs.
Where do I find the"swstor" folder?
On my computer hard drive?
Thanks for your assistance.
I found a location for something called swstor, but can’t figure out how to get something that tells me how to use it.
Thanks
That’s the folder. It’s a regular folder that follows the following path for backups:
SWSTOR> Volume/Computer Name> User Account> Files.
They can be deleted from Windows Explorer by doing a right-click and selecting “delete”.
